Encompass Community Supports administers multiple supplemental health resources in our region. We work with our agency’s different departments and community partners to provide these connections and assistance.

The Live Well, Virginia! Group Workshop, sometimes referred to as Chronic Disease Self-Management Education (CDSME), is about managing and living with long-term conditions that require ongoing medical care or interfere with daily living. Well-trained volunteers, lead the small group workshops and there is no charge. Participating will teach you how to create a list of goals, new tools to ensure daily tasks become easier, practice stress reduction techniques, and provide tools to engage in healthy communications that will improve self-advocacy skills. The Healthy IDEAS (Identifying Depression Empowering Activities for Seniors) Service is an evidence-based approach designed to identify rigorous signs of depression in adults 60 and above. It includes Screening for symptoms and severity of depression, Education about depression, effective treatment, and self-care, Symptom management through engagement in meaningful activities and ongoing support, and Assistance with referral and linkage to other care providers, as needed. The Virginia Insurance Counseling Assistance Program (VICAP) Service is part of a national network that offers free, unbiased, confidential counseling and assistance for people who have Medicare or are about to enroll in Medicare. VICAP counselors are certified and trained to assist and provide information on Medicare-related insurance needs and more. Call or contact the Support Coordinator for your county (see below).
