Child and Family Services:
Behavioral Health Outpatient Services

The mission of RRCSB-AAA Outpatient Behavioral Healthcare Services is to provide a professional, skilled and accessible means for citizens of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock Counties to obtain outpatient behavioral health counseling services. Outpatient Behavioral Health Services consist of an array of center-based services designed to evaluate and treat the effects of behavioral health disorders that impair the functioning of consumers. Specific services include:

  1. Access Services that consist of screening, triage, information and referral and intake services;
  2. Diagnosis and evaluation;
  3. Crisis Intervention;
  4. Treatment planning;
  5. Service coordination to include behavioral health case management and SED targeted case management for children and adolescents;
  6. Psychological evaluation (resource limitations restrict this service to support treatment and service planning functions of current consumers);
  7. Forensic evaluations and specialized court ordered assessments;
  8. Medication Management (resource limitations restrict this service to support treatment and service planning functions of current consumers);

Outpatient behavioral health services are appropriately provided by RRCSB-AAA to persons of any age having confirmed or suspected DSM IV disorders causing symptoms that impair functioning in major life areas. The clinical assessment must determine that the person can potentially benefit from an outpatient service resulting in a reduction and/or stabilization of symptoms. The client may be referred to medical services after 3 counseling sessions or immediately in cases of serious mental illness or emotional disturbance and/or if the individual is at risk of hospitalization.

ACCESS: RRCSB-AAA provides a friendly, effective and efficient way to bring persons into the appropriate level of clinical services with regard to their preferences, clinical needs, and financial considerations. When an inquirer calls one of our clinics to request outpatient services, he or she is immediately connected by phone or in person to an Access Clinician who provides a brief needs assessment, collects necessary demographic and financial information, and offers an overview of how and when our outpatient services will begin. The clinician determines whether the person requires emergency, urgent or routine outpatient services and links the inquirer to the appropriate level of care. Such linkage may involve referral to our services or to other private providers or community services. The clinician links the inquirer to our Reimbursement staff who verifies and authorizes insurance coverage or establishes a fee for services and contacts the person to schedule outpatient services.
